So a friend put a link up on Facebook about blocking Ashley Madison in Singapore, so I had to go look at what on earth it was.
It turns out to be a "Lets organise an affair" website. In general, not something I care about either way. My partner knows that if he wants to cheat on me what I will do to him when I find out.
BUT
I looked at their options about your relationship status, and was somewhat aghast... astounded....
The options start off fairly normally for such a website and they are:
Attached male seeking females
Attached female seeking males
Single male seeking females
Single female seeking males
Its when we get to the homosexual options that the amazement began
Females seeking females
Males seeking males
Nothing like acknowledging the legitimacy of same sex relationships.
Is the implication of this website that homosexuals can not be in steady relationships?? Or that those that are will never cheat? Or simply that all people in same-sex relationships have open relationships?
I tend to believe the website believes it is the former. Gays are sluts, experimenting, and sleep around so it doesn't matter if they have a significant other.
I have many friends in same-sex relationships. Some have been together for 30 years or so, some are relatively new relationships - only 2 or 3 years. Some are married, some are not. It doesn't matter to me.
What matters is they are in legitimate relationships, and that those relationships should be acknowledged. If a website like this refuses to acknowledge them, a website that should be completely non-judgemental and open as it is promoting having an affair (and how can you cheat if your relationship isn't legitimatte), then how can we expect the government to acknowledge them?

FunThings on the Internet
Okay, I know I haven't written on here in quite some time. However, I am still here, whole and hale. I have moved house again and things have changed. I am currently getting reorganised into the new place (where I hope to stay for a few years) and my brain is a little on holiday, so nothing really exciting on here today.
However, here are some random things:
www.coursera.org
This is a website of free courses offered by some of the worlds best universities. A bit of everything from a course that sounds like the beginning of a universal translator a la Star Trek, to basic human physiology and beyond. There are a couple on there about sustainability, the history of rock music, and exploring quantum physics.
Book Depository
http://www.bookdepository.co.uk
One of the best online bookstores I have come across. Even though it apparently has been taken over by Amazon UK, it is still offering free postage :D
Cross stitch supplier:
http://www.artsanddesigns.com
UK store with free postage. Love my cross stitch.
Deals for Australia:
http://www.allthedeals.com.au/
This is a pretty good website, although Scoopon.com.au is no longer on it :(
Questionable Content
http://questionablecontent.net/
Its a comic. Its funny.
